Cellulose thimbles are standard for most lipid, fat, and oil extractions using organic solvents at temperatures below 120 °C. Glass microfiber thimbles are required for temperatures up to 500 °C, hot stack exhaust monitoring, and when using strong acids or aggressive chemical solvents.
